Do you ever wonder how important it REALLY is to drink water to stay healthy? I know what you’re thinking… “I just don’t have enough time to drink that much water” or “how am I supposed to remember to drink that much water when I have SO many other things to do today?!” You’re not alone. I often feel the same way but it’s important to FIND time in your busy day to drink enough water. Your body will thank you.
Did you know that drinking enough water has more to do with just quenching your thirst? It may do more than you realize. Drinking enough water moistens your tissues. This includes those in the eyes, nose, and the mouth. (Hence why your mouth gets dry when you’re thirsty ). Water also regulates your body temperature and lubricates your joints. Are you feeling extra achy today? Drink a glass of water  It can also help prevent constipation and it ensures that your skin and tissues are hydrated which allows them to do the job of protecting your body, tissues, and organs.
So Catharine Hardyman wonders “How much water do I need to drink each day?” It truly varies for each person. How much do you sweat? Do you have underlying health conditions? The best advice is to ask your doctor. But remember, water is the best choice over sugary drinks. It is always best to drink water throughout the day AND while exercising. You can also get water through fruits and vegetables high in water content. When in doubt, drink a glass of water.
